Primrose Armor Plate with Moly-D is a rich green moly grease which provides excellent stability and unsurpassed performance under a wide range of temperatures and operating conditions. Armor Plate grease is entirely unique due to the fact that the moly in it is solubilized which provides superior performance to other greases containing the black solid form of moly, molybdenum disulfide.
Common all purpose consistency. NLGI #2

Common questions about 327-2 Armor Plate Grease with Moly-D / NLGI #2
-
What is 327 Armor Plate grease used for?
327-2 Armor Plate with Moly-D is a heavy duty multipurpose NLGI No. 2 grease made by Primrose for ball joints, king pins, wheel bearings, ball and roller bearings, sleeve bearings, pillow blocks, fifth wheels, oven conveyors, cranes and drag lines. Primrose lists applications including farms, construction companies, drilling rigs, mines, steel mills, lumber mills and barges.
-
What is Moly-D, and why is 327 Armor Plate green instead of black?
327 Armor Plate is green because its moly is Moly-D, a solubilized moly compound, instead of the black solid moly (molybdenum disulfide) that Primrose says most other moly greases use. Primrose reports that Moly-D outperformed molysulfide in side-by-side tests, and that in oxidation stability tests Armor Plate with Moly-D lasted 18 times as long as the same grease made with molysulfide.
-
Will 327 Armor Plate grease melt in high heat?
No, 327-2 Armor Plate with Moly-D is a non-melt grease: it uses a heat resistant organo-clay thickener instead of soap, and its TDS lists the dropping point (ASTM D2265) as none. Primrose says Armor Plate with Moly-D can be used in conveyor belt bearings in kilns where constant temperatures of 400 F are encountered.
-
Should I buy 327 Armor Plate in No. 2, No. 1 or 327C?
Choose 327-2 for general heavy duty greasing, since NLGI No. 2 is the common all purpose consistency. The 327 TDS names pumpability at subfreezing temperatures and automatic lubrication as applications for the softer 327-1 (NLGI No. 1), and Primrose recommends the heavier 327C (NLGI No. 3) for heavy duty construction and mining equipment in temperatures or operating conditions above freezing.
-
Does 327 Armor Plate grease wash out with water?
327-2 Armor Plate with Moly-D resists water washout: its TDS rates its water resistance excellent and lists exceptional resistance to water washout and spray-off. It also passes the rust prevention test, and Primrose describes it as very tacky for excellent adhesion to the parts being lubricated.
