  • What is the difference between Primrose 480M and 532T Seal Saver?

    Primrose 480M Armor Plate Ultragard is an oil supplement that strengthens the oil film and adds Moly-D to motor, gear, hydraulic and compressor oils, while 532T Seal Saver is a hydraulic fluid supplement that conditions seals to reduce leaks. Mix 480M at 1:10 in gasoline and diesel engine oil or 1:20 in hydraulic oil; add 532T at 5% to 10%, or 15% for significant seal leakage.

  • Can I add 480M or 532T Seal Saver to any oil?

    No, Primrose says 480M Armor Plate Ultragard is not designed for fluids with special frictional characteristics, such as automatic transmission, wet clutch or friction drive fluids, and 532T Seal Saver is not for fire resistant, polyalkylene glycol, polyol ester or silicone hydraulic fluids. 480M is compatible with all petroleum and PAO based oils, and 532T is a supplement for finished tractor hydraulic-transmission fluid, industrial hydraulic fluid or hydraulic fluid.

  • Which Odyssey 15W-40 should I use in my diesel, 229 or 234?

    Primrose particularly recommends 234 Odyssey 3400 (API CK-4/SN) for heavy duty diesels burning ultra-low sulfur diesel in 2017 and newer on-highway models and Tier 4 non-road engines, and 229 Odyssey 3000 (API CJ-4/SN) for 2007 to 2016 model year heavy duty diesels with emission after-treatment. Both are 15W-40 synthetic blend moly motor oils recommended for gasoline and most diesel engines, so confirm your engine calls for 15W-40.

  • Which Primrose oils and supplements contain Moly-D?

    Primrose 480M Armor Plate Ultragard, 229 Odyssey 3000 and 234 Odyssey 3400 motor oils, 548 Armor Plate chain and cable lubricant and 556 Emerald Shield all contain Primrose's Moly-D, an oil-soluble friction modifier that Primrose credits with reducing wear. 480M contains a concentrate of Moly-D: used at 10%, Primrose says it adds as much Moly-D to an oil as Primrose Armor Plate with Moly-D oils contain.

  • Should I use Primrose 548 or 556 Emerald Shield on chains, cables or open gears?

    Use Primrose 548 Armor Plate with Moly-D on chains, sprockets, cables and wire rope, and 556 Emerald Shield on large shrouded open gears, such as ball mills with automatic lubrication. 548 is an oil-type lubricant that goes on wire rope straight from the container without heating, while 556 is an extremely viscous synthetic fluid that Primrose says will not build up on gears or shrouds as open gear greases do.
